Speckles
Speckles is a 10 year old creature of habit. She has her favourite sleeping spots, her favourite view points and will let you know when dinner is late by starting to circle her plate like a little vulture! She loves to watch the antics of the household humans, or any action that is going on outside. Speckles loves to "kill" socks, and it is not uncommon to come home to a trail of conquests at the end of the day. She likes mild mannered dogs and tries initially to show her dislike for other cats, but soon accepts them and goes about her habitual day.

Lucky Girl
Lucky is such an adorable 11year old girl but she sure doesn't act her age at all! She still loves to play and explore and be with the humans. She is the expert at petting herself (thank you very much!) on whatever table legs or walls may be present and will purr up a storm if you even just touch her. She does enjoy being held and carried around like a princess and can stay in your arms for as long as you want her to. Lucky is absolutely fine with any other creatures that may be present in her household! Oh, and she loves watching tv!

Sheba
Sheba loves men! She is in her glory when she has her own human male to visit with (women will do too..!). She likes to sleep on the bed and will purr contentedly beside you all night. She is used to living with an elderly man, so needs a home that isn’t full of action all the time! Sheba is a very easy, tidy, mellow cat who just wants to live out the rest of her long life with someone who loves her!

Chello
Chello was surrendered to ICAN, as her mom had to move unexpectedly. She is 1 year old and is up to date on vaccines. Chello is extremely mellow and is doing very well with the other cats. She is afraid of dogs and has never been outside, so would be a perfect indoor kitty! We think Chello may have some bengal in her, as her colouring is very unique and looks a little "wild"! She is a 7 toed polydactl and her feet are just massive!! She absolutely adores being fawned over, but still startles with loud or unexpected noises and movements. That's probably because she is still getting used to her surroundings. She had no hesitation in getting out of her crate upon arrival and was happy to check out her new digs, so I don't think that she would take long to adjust to a new home! Please come and meet her, you won't believe your eyes!!!

I want YOU to be my family!!

Blackie and Fluffy
Blackie and Fluffy are brother and sister and are about 2 years old now. Before coming to ICAN, they were both living indoors, but mostly as unsocialized cats, being fed and watered, but not having a ton of human interaction. As such, they were both very shy and skittish when they came to us. Blackie now loves humans and will come running out to greet anyone! He is a little skittish around sudden noises or movements, but he gets over that in no time! Fluffy is a little more reserved and likes to spend her days watching the antics of us humans from a high perch. She is also very affectionate and would love to be someone's snuggle bug given time! Both these two will probably take a little while to adjust to a new home and surroundings, but within a couple of weeks, should be showing their true colours!!

Smokey
Smokey is about 5 years old and would love a quiet home where she can relax. She has a very different personality although she loves getting attention in small doses. Smokey likes to spend alot of her time in small spaces, where she feels safe. She will come out though to receive her lovin', have some supper and explore. Given enough time, love and patience, Smokey could come around to being a someone's companion, she just needs that chance! She was in foster and was starting to play by the end of the first month.

Jenna
Jenna is about 5 years old and likes to play a bit of the alpha cat and be in charge of all the other cats at ICAN. She is a total mushball though and has a cute round little head and body. She is used to being indoors and outdoors. Jenna is current on her vaccinations (thanks to her past foster mommy) and is about 5 years old. She is very curious about her surroundings and doesn’t play shy at all

Milly
Little Milly is once again back at the ICAN shelter. She has been with us a very long time and we would love to see her get a new home – she so deserves it! She is a tiny little thing, very well mannered and she has a bit of a fetish with dogs! She absolutely adores them!! She will eat with them, groom them, sleep with them, anything! I think she just likes to have another warm body close to her as often as she can. Milly does have a bit of a fussy tummy but does do well when she is on only one type of food – she has occasional bouts of soft stool and goopy eyes that last about a week. Milly would love nothing better than to curl up on the couch or your bed with you, and hey, she only takes up about a dinner plate’s worth of room!

Hemi
Adoption Pending
Hemi is a 3 year old Ragdoll who absolutely adores people.
She really doesn’t play shy at all, unless a dog comes around, as they are definitely not her favourite animal to
have sharing her space. She loves having her tummy rubbed (which feels like silk by the way) and will cuddle right into you when you sit down. She doesn’t really like being picked up, but will tolerate it from time to time if you promise to brush her afterwards! Hemi needs a loving home where she can snuggle right against you at night, and where she will not be allowed outdoors, as she has no idea what that is all about and would prefer to keep it that way!

May
May is about 5.5 months old now. She was brought in as a feral community cat who was very fearful of people, but she has really come around to this whole human thing! She loves to be fawned over and will lay in your arms like jelly most of the time, especially if wrapped in a blanket. She does still hiss at strangers the odd time, but that's just to warn them that she's fierce (not really, but don't tell her that!).
May has special needs due to the manx gene that she inhereted from her father, but they sure don't slow her down any. Her main issue is that she doesn't have enough nerves going to her back leg, so it tends to go a little wonky when she's running, playing, or in the litter box. She doesn't know that this is problem, however, and it doesn't bother her at all, just looks a little strange at first! She still uses the leg to get around on and can bear weight on it, which is a great plus! She could develop a bit of "bum" issues as she gets older, but to date, we have seen nothing to indicate that will happen. May wants to belong and would love to have a home that will love her, even with her gimpy leg! If you are interested in hearing more about May, please let us know! This little lady has amazed us all with her ability to accept her ailment and for her acceptance of us humans, in spite of all our poking, prodding and inspecting!

Sierra
This little girl is about 15 weeks old and ready and waiting patiently for her forever home. Note the unusual coloring of black and silver! She’s a very social little kitten who has grown up with a dog, 2 much older (by almost a year) kittens, and her adoptive family of brothers and sisters around her age. Being “an only child” has been very beneficial for her as she has had some experiences with pets of different ages and sizes and has learned to integrate very well. Sierra is very outgoing because of these encounters with others and there’s not much that frightens her. When she’s mingling with her older “brother and sister”, she acts like a grown up, but when she’s with her “younger family” she becomes the kitten again. Being calm, quiet, very self assured, and able to entertain herself, she will fit well into any household. She also shows a cheeky side, so whatever you do, don’t make her angry by holding on to her when she wants to go, or she’ll give your nose a little nibble!!

Teli
Pip
Bree

The Telus Bundle
available for adoption August 25, 2010
Teli is the larger black and more nonchalant. She watches and only gets up to get involved after a moment or two of serious contemplation. Once into the program, however, she does get fully involved, with a healthy appetite and loud purrs when petted. She is probably the most skilled at climbing and perching on the top of the sisal scratchpost. She has a little melodic trill that she usually uses in the litterbox before doing her business.
Pip is the smallest of the bunch, with a funny little black face and a "squeak" rather than a meow. Pip purrs loudly when petted and will cuddle a bit, but is really missing Mom right now.
Bree is the slightly smaller of the two tabbiesand has two clearly defined face stripes, and two "antennae" stripes on a paler forehead. Once at her new foster home, she had a manic half hour but calmed down to rest with her already napping siblings. She's a determined "mouse killer" and has no fear climbing or exploring.
Noki has a narrower "dorsal stripe", which is clearly defined partway down her back; the dark "lightbulb" on her forehead and a single eyeliner stripe. She is the heaviest of the bunch. She, like Teli, prefers to sit back and see what's happening, before coming to join the program. Not surprisingly, she will eat anything that is put in the dish! She is friendly, purrs loudly when petted. Noki likes to play with string and will "wash" her siblings' faces. She also digs with gusto in the litterbox, and quite often sits to watch it being cleaned.
Noki
Update from foster home - August 5:
The Telus Bundles are definitely high speed and broadband.
They are into everything, and just bouncing with energy. Kitchen tables, any surface with a "dish" for that matter, are to be explored and tasted if possible. Just ignore the "No, no - name" and look innocent when picked up and removed with a "Pfft". Head back immediately once put down. If a people has a dish, follow with intense gaze and body when necessary: a wee squeak may increase the "cute" factor.
See if any drapey thing can be pulled down so that hide and seek can be played, or if it won't come down, see if it can be climbed. Again, just ignore the "pffft". If already bored with this, however, run off to the hallway with tail up and looking "huffy".

Bandette
Bandette (formerly Bandit until we learned “he” is a “she”) is a very sturdy, rambunctious little gal who enjoys rough and tumble play with her littermates but will take time out for a cuddle if you’re quick enough to catch her! Her fur, which was solid black when she first arrived, is changing colour as she gets older. Her tummy, legs and chest are now silver/grey – any bets on how she’ll end up?

Please do not let your cat play in the dryer without constant supervision!

Button
Mr. Button is, well, cute as a button! He’s an affectionate, playful, full-of-energy guy who loves being part of whatever’s going on, whether that’s eating, sleeping, chasing his sisters or wrestling his brother. If something’s happening, Button’s sure to be there!

Minou
Ah, Minou, the “girly girl” of the litter. A sweet, dainty little lovebug, she keeps her white fur sparkling clean and loves gazing out the window, content to watch the birds and butterflies go by. Until she notices a game of rumble-tumble starting up or spies her favourite toy, that is. Then she’s off in a blur of black and white, a little tomboy at heart.
|
|
Goatee
Can you guess why he’s named Goatee? (Hint: check out the little black beard). This wee man will steal your heart away. When give the option of roughhousing with his brother and sisters or getting a massage from his foster mum, he’ll choose the massage every time! But that’s not to say he’s not a busy boy – his curiosity has got him into a few odd situations and he can get into mischief just like the rest of them (just how DID the cover come off the basement floor drain, Goatee?)

Skooter
Annie
(250) 341-6191
anniesduck@hotmail.com
Skooter is a 3 & 1/2 year old indoor neutered male siamese cross. His markings are seal point with small white boots and has blue eyes. He is a medium hair, but does not need excessive grooming. I initially adopted him from the Cranbrook SPCA when he was 6 months old. After I got him home I was informed that he had contracted the "Kitty Cold Virus." He is healthy, but from time to time, will get a runny nose, weepy eyes, and sneezes. He has a sensitive urinary tract, and has been treated twice for bladder infections. I usually just get him a bag of the desolving formula food from the vet and feed him that till the end of the bag and that seems to keep him going. He is currently being fed the vet brand preventative food. He is leash and harness trained and although he does get along with other cats, he can be prone to marking, which is part of the problem right now for me. He is a bit of a stickler when it comes to his litterbox. It must be cleaned daily and changed often to keep it to his liking. He loves to sleep under the covers behind your knees.
